Swim
Comments: In water start involved walking ~100 yards from beach to red buoy before start. Water was cold, but calm at start. Temperature took my breath away and made the swim to the first yellow buoy difficult; however, I was able to get into a pretty good rhythm after that. Wind and waves started to pick up a little bit in second half of course. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: I don't recall anything out of the ordinary happening during this transition. Bike
Comments: Very start of course was not marked at all, and the volunteers weren't in place by the time I left T1. Normally, I'd accept responsibility for not "knowing the course", but REV3 did not have course maps for the sprint bike posted online or available at the expo. Cedar Point Road was in pretty rough shape and had standing water in some places, but the rest of the course was OK. What would you do differently?: Try harder to figure out the course layout BEFORE the race begins. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty uneventful other than the person beside me had thrown their wetsuit over my spot in the bike rack which cost me a few seconds. Putting powder in socks definitely helped! Run
Comments: Was hoping for some more interesting scenery, but the run stayed outside of the park (with the exception of maybe a 1/4 mile). Legs felt pretty good off the bike and I was able to hold off a guy who was slowly catching up with me. Post race
Warm down: Had to leave fairly quickly after finishing to get to the rear of the park for the beginning of the Honda Family Festival 5k. Event comments: Issues at the beginning of the bike course withstanding, this was a great race experience and I'm very happy that I participated. That said, you could definitely tell that the sprint was near the bottom of list of priorities versus the half and full events on Sunday. Finisher and AG winner medals were probably the coolest I've ever received. Swag and AG awards were top notch as well. Staff was very accommodating of my requests (held my AG award and let me keep bike in transition while I went to participate in another race). Major changes due to merger with Challenge withstanding, I definitely want to come back in 2015 to participate in the half! Last updated: 2014-08-15 12:00 AM

Woke up early, ate a pop tart and drank a Starbucks iced coffee. Arrived at transition about an hour early and set things up.
Long walk down the beach.. Drank a Gatorade pre-game fuel about 15 minutes before the start.
