Pre-race routine:

We didn't start until 10:15 so DH and I slept in then went to Sbux for breakfast then drove the 15 minutes to the spot where we were going to meet SIL and her friend, C. We waited there for a bit then once they arrived we piled in to our car and drove the short distance to the race. We carpooled to save the $10 parking for one vehicle.

Once we got there we met up with my niece, A, and her SIL, E. We got in to our outfits. Shirt and socks by A, boa's by L, and cat ear tiarras by me. Then we pinned on our bibs, got our hair pinked and braided (for those with enough hair), posed for "before" pix and headed to the start line.
Event warmup:

Walking all over the place.

Comments:

The "race" wasn't timed so I used my old timex to keep track.

We started out with a large group so running was the usual bobbing and weaving between other groups. It didn't take long before we were just walking :(

The first obstacle was a giant blowup staircase with stairs about 1.5 feet high so we climbed up one side and bounced on our butts down the other side. It was fun and elevated the HR a bit. L complained that we weren't muddy yet. Of course the obstacles got more difficult and more muddy. We were going over walls and under nets through the mud.

There were a couple times my team-mates thought they couldn't do an obstacle and that they were going around. I was having none of that and everybody did every obstacle! I was the oldest of the group so I wasn't letting them get away with much, other than walking the entire thing :(
What would you do differently?:

Not walk but I didn't have much control over that. At least they were out there
Post race
Warm down:

The line to be hosed off was rather long so we just jumped in a nearby pond, but not before some after pix. After we "cleaned" off I walked to the car to get my clothes and changed while DH held up a moving blanket for me to hide behind.

Of course, DH pulled a chocolate milk out of the cooler. Love that man!

Then we walked back up and met the others. Talked about the race some more then said our goodbyes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Teammates who wouldn't run.

Event comments:

Like many of the obstacle races Dirty Girl has been getting a bad rap. This race was cancelled last year because of the Colorado flooding and we had no trouble transferring our registration to this year.

The t-shirt is lame and the pendant isn't much better but the experience with my niece and SIL was worth every penny.
