Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, had a cup of coffee and a sandwich with Nutella.
Event warmup:

Short job before the start to get up to temperature.
Run
  • 22m 56s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

Could've gone much faster, but the rain and cold weather made my legs feel sluggish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

Ran right past my bike in transition and it took me a few seconds to realize that my bike was now racked behind me.

Shoes clipped in and attached with rubber bands. Only struggle was all the mud on my feet from running on the grass.
What would you do differently?:

Pay attention before going to the start line. Dumb rookie mistake, I definitely should know better.
Bike
  • 40m 50s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 19.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Wet, rainy, rough roads, pot holes… I really slowed down, especially in the beginning and it wasn't until the end of the bike leg that I started to feel comfortable.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder from the beginning. The normal pace would be at least 2MPH faster...
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

A volunteer managed to get right in my way when I tried to rack my bike. Very apologetic, so no harm, but I did lose a few seconds asking him (very politely, without volunteers, there's no race!) to step a side so I could rack my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Bike racked quickly, and running shoes on in a decent time (struggled a bit to step in due to the mud on my feet)
Run
  • 23m 57s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Mentally, I struggled with the last run. This is usually when I make up time on other competitors, but today everything felt slow. Probably due to the rain...
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. This is a rebuild year from a broken leg 2 years ago and a move last year.

Event comments:

Despite not having a price ceremony after the race, I really liked everything else about it. Well organized, great volunteers and a good venue. The road conditions were decent for the most part, but the course had to be re-routed from previous years due to construction, and the detour had some bad road surface. There's not much a RD can do about that though. :-)
