Comments:

I don't Like NUUN to drink. In practice it was light, but I did not sit well. I should have stuck with Tang. Its what Astronauts drink. I love Jelly Belly beans instead of chews
What would you do differently?:

Not drink NUUN and more longer rides in training
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

quick tranision ate another GU
Run
  • 2h 18m 20s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a bad cramp in the upper thigh at 1.5 miles. I could not move.I said out loud, I should have listened to Jackie and brought the mustard packets. I started eating jelly beans and ate a GU. I walked to the next aid station. drank a Pepsi, used the porta potty. Walked another .5 miles, then I could run again. The rest of the run was slow and I was a bit ginger the rest of the way.
What would you do differently?:

more loner runs in training and carry a mustard paket.
Post race
Warm down:

drank several glasses of water, chatted and relaxed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not enough long runs in training and bad cramping

Event comments:

I love this race. Its is challenging and fun. Clean water to swim in and beautiful ride.

NNW wind causes a wind tunnel effect down Monument. It made a the first leg more of a grind. Second leg was fast, tail wind and mostly down hill. Mitch caught me on the leg. Third leg was tough. strong wind on the Old Orchard hill killed me and I blew up. This is where Mitch dropped me. I recovered coming out of of Cooke Dam. The last leg was fast! Tailwind my bike speed did not drop under 20 mph. recorded high speed was 39.9 mph.
