Seven Springs Rotary's Longleaf Triathlon
75F / 24C
Sunny
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 73/110
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 10/14
Pre-race routine:

Not much of a pre race routine today. Got in the water thinking it would be cold, but it was pretty warm
Swim
  • 32m 39s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

Went out too fast. Had a great week of swims leading up to the event and expected to do well in the swim. Started out too fast and working too hard and left myself struggling to break through the wall. The rest of the swim was a struggle to keep pace.
What would you do differently?:

Go out slow and gradually increase pace
Transition 1
  • 03m 43s
Comments:

First tansition with a wetsuit. Didn't know what to expect, a little slower than I hoped but it could have been worse.
What would you do differently?:

Will have to get better at getting the suit off quickly. Also need to get shoes and socks on and helmet on quicker
Bike
  • 1h 18m 12s
  • 24.9 miles
  • 19.10 mile/hr
Comments:

Decent ride for as much as I have been riding lately. Could have hit it harder, but don't know how much that would have cost me on the run.
What would you do differently?:

More long training rides and some interval training
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

good transition. Ended up adjusting my bike position twice before I left...probably cost me 5 seconds
Run
  • 56m
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Really happy with the run. Was suprised to look down at my watch and keep seeing that the pace was between 8:30 and 9:00. It seemed like I was running really easy. I did slow down around mile 4, but got a second wind and finished strong
What would you do differently?:

I was short one power gel. Other than that, I was happy with the run
Post race
Warm down:

Searched for beer, found no beer....second choice, searched for food.....found no food

What limited your ability to perform faster:

no beer after the race......fortunately, I did not know that until after the race or else I would have been disheartended and finished in about 4 hours

Event comments:

Great course, they ended up getting shafted by the caterer and no food was served after the race, but the volunteers were great and the race was well organized and well planned
