Swim
Comments: Lots of hitting and bumping up to the turn around. After the turn was able to draft a bit and then caught up to the slower swimmers from wave ahead and it was chaos again. I am not afraid of the chaos:) What would you do differently?: Nothing. I am a swimmer so even though I finished 2nd in my age group I still think I could have gone a bit faster after the turn. Transition 1
Comments: I could not feel my toes or fingers. It was very hard to get my cycling shoes on without any feeling in my fingers. I felt like a bumbling idiot. I had to sit down for a bit. It took me at least a minute just to get my shoes on with my frozen fingers. As I got on bike an ambulance pulled right ahead and held a few of us up for a second or two, nbd. Elite biker coming around to start lap two almost went full speed into him, luckily he swerved and missed the ambulance or he would of been in it.... What would you do differently?: I would of liked a much much faster T1 but under the circumstances I did the best I could. Bike
Comments: I really need to work on my biking before next season. I know I just started biking this year and have an entry level road bike but I would like to see some better results from myself. I had some difficulty with my asthma for the first 2-3 miles. I had to take it a tad easy to get my breathing under control. What would you do differently?: Hindsight being 20/20 I should of grabbed a puff from my inhaler during T1 (especially since it was cold out). Transition 2
Comments: Pretty smooth transition. Grabbed a much needed puff from my inhaler. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I did not take any water, did not need it. I had a real nice run for me. My feet were bricks for the entire run because of how cold they were. It did not seem to slow me down though, it just felt weird. Race results say my pace was 9:07 which would of made this a 2.8 mile run not 3 so I am unsure of my real pace. Either would be fine with me. Getting a Garmin soon! Post race
Warm down: Sat on my butt. What limited your ability to perform faster: The cold which makes my asthma tough for me. Which I could control that more, but I do all I can. After the race it felt like someone was strangling my esophagus. Fun:) Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. Though I did not care for a 4 loop bike course full of bikers. Over all it was a good end of season tri. I ended up doing this one only because the Bassman was cancelled. I had been training for the International distance and when I found out I was going to have to settle for this sprint I was not happy and pretty much stopped training 2-3 weeks out. But I would do this race again. I LOVED the fresh fruit cups after the race! IMO best post race snack. The fruit washed down well with a donut too:) Last updated: 2014-10-08 12:00 AM

Woke up with time to spare. Drank coffee and had a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter then packed the car for the 45 minutes drive to the race. It was so cold outside!
It was so cold out that I didn't want to get into the water until two minutes before my wave started. Though the water was warmer than the air I get cold very easily and my toes were already numb. There was a bit of a breeze too.
