Pre-race routine:

Race was pool swim with starts at 20 second incriments. My offset was 1:11:00. So my race would start at 0841. Got up at 0500, Ate Clif Bar. Went to Trans area and set up. Went to Denny's ate dry toast and fruit. Went and watched start of race.
Event warmup:

Just stretching as pool was already being used for race.
Swim
  • 11m 57s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

First swim in 50 meter pool. Very good swim. Took too long at the ends. Jumped in with goggles on forhead and nose plug in hand and proceeded to sink, didn"t know it was so deep. Had to hurry to surface, get goggles on, and get nose plug on before it was time for me to start.
-My goal was 12 minutes so did well here.
What would you do differently?:

Less time at ends.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

These weren't timed. Good transition. These are getting better. Put on riding shirt, socks and shoes. Yankz laces helped greatly.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 36s
  • 21 miles
  • 19.21 mile/hr
Comments:

This time includes both transitions. Computer said average 20.1 mph. Very happy with that. Spun the whole time and pressed pretty good. Still don't have bike shoes, just riding with running shoes on look clipless pedals. Also, tighted helmet strap too much. Took a couple bites of powerbar in transition and had hard time swallowing with strap on.
What would you do differently?:

Get bike shoes.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Very quick transition. Didn't have to change shoes. Put running shirt with bib number on over bike shirt.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Run
  • 42m 54s
  • 4.8 miles
  • 08m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty good. Wanted to run at least 10 minute miles and surpassed that by a good deal.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk and wait for friends at finish line. Eat the good food offered in transition area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Experience, this is my first year(really like 4 months) of training/doing tri's. This was my 3rd tri.

Event comments:

Good race. Incredible facilities. Very organized. Fun course. Really enjoyed this race and will come back next year. Would like to have transition times split out.
