Swim
Comments: Spacing was good in the water. Passed two or three people towards the end of the swim. It got a little congested at the wall a few times. Overall, good pool swim. What would you do differently?: Nothing much. Transition 1
Comments: It was kind of a long run from the pool to transition. The weather was cool and I had a hard time figuring whether to put extra gear on. I dispatched with that idea and just left. One shoe gave me a problem and then I was off. What would you do differently?: Comparing the rest of the times in my age group, it seemed to be a fairly good transition. Bike
Comments: Rode with the wind on the way out and kept a high pace. I was passed by one guy on the bike and he was in my age group. Bummer. I was also chicked. She was fast. The course was long. According to my Garmin it was 16.52 miles and my split was actually 20.4 mph which is very good for me. I handled the wind and hills well on the way back. The last hill went into the Nat parking lot and was tough at the end of the ride. Nice route. The road was chip seal but the shoulder was smooth. What would you do differently?: I didn't really have a chance to put many miles in over the last month so I am really happy with my ride. I put alot into the ride and was worried about the run. My legs were fairly tired in transition. Transition 2
Comments: Easy transition. Got out of my bike shoes before the mount line. Running shoes went on well. In and out quickly. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: One thing I have been doing is running. Most of my training this year was for Ironman Boulder so I have not been concentrating on short speed. I worked in speed work over the past few months and it paid off. One of the faster 5k splits for me on a Sprint. I felt really good. The guy who finished fourth passed me on the second lap and I stayed on his heels until the finish. Each mile was faster as I went. I was very happy with the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Met my friend Joe after the race and had a water. They were serving pancakes but I didn't feel like eating them. What limited your ability to perform faster: More short speed training Event comments: They were giving out leftover gear from the previous races so I loaded up on Tech shirts and got a jacket. Gotta love that. Last updated: 2014-10-22 12:00 AM
