Run
Comments: With less than 6 weeks of training, this was the most unprepared I have ever been for a race of this distance. That being said, my goals were to 1. finish and 2. beat the time of my very first half. Without the constant encouragement from my running partner, neither would have been accomplished, but they both were. I'm more sore and beat up than any other race I've done and at the same time more motivated than ever. What would you do differently?: Not lose all my fitness by taking an entire month off and better control my weight through diet and portion control. Post race
Warm down: Could not get comfortable after the race. My calves were killing me. Very sharp, stabbing pain in the middle of the muscle belly. Tried stretching, walking, squatting, sitting, nothing made it better. Tried eating, but couldn't enjoy the food because of the pain. Finally went to the medical tent for some ice. It helped a little, but I could still feel it almost an hour after the race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and run base and carrying too much weight, both are things I can correct. Event comments: Great music along the course, awesome breakfast afterwards, and tons of support. Last updated: 2014-10-30 12:00 AM

Up at 5 am, Bevita Breakfast Biscuits and milk, out the door to pick up Grady by 5:30.
Not much as usual. Did make a great decision to go back to the porti-potties after the National Anthem. Lines had cleared out and still made it to the start less than 5 minutes after the gun went off. Good thing for chip time.
