Swim
Comments: Swam with the current. I couldn't believe that I was out of the water in 6 min. Took me 1min plus to run to transition area. No wetsuit...I was wearing a new UX2 tri suit, worked extremely well.. What would you do differently?: swim fastere Transition 1
Comments: This transition was good. Since it was a sprint I went without socks, fine for the bike. What would you do differently?: Put shoes on bike. Bike
Comments: Strong bike ride. Was super hot. There was no shade. I may have gone out a little too strong. I got up to 26mph the first mile or so then backed off b/c felt like I was overdoing it...I used the bigger sproket on the first 3/4 of the ride then switched to smaller sprocket to get my legs ready for high turnover, that tactic seemed to work well. What would you do differently?: Mount bike with shoes, dismount without shoes Transition 2
Comments: I was exhausted from the bike, so took it slow putting on running shoes, no socks in running shoes either becuase of the short distance. What would you do differently?: Dismount without shoes. Run
Comments: Felt like crap for the first 10min of the run. LESSON: More bricks!!! I finally relaxed on the last 1.5mi and finished strong. There was absoutely no shade for the bike on the run, so by the time I finished I was pretty much baked.... Post race
Warm down: Put my head under cold shower...ooooh that felt good, take pictures, eat yogurt and granolla, drink lots and lots of water. Roam around eat banna and orange, check out race results. What limited your ability to perform faster: heat. Event comments: Fun race. Really need to work on my transition from bike to run. Big news is that the swim was a blast...I actually caught up with people from other waves, that was weird, all of a sudden I was swimming at someones heels. That was a good feeling. I didn't feel the same anxiety I usually feel during the swim..perhaps it was the 200m warm up...Peter had a flat 3/4 of the way thru the bike, he was in the first wave and I was in the last, I caught up with him (only because of his flat) and we went neck and neck for the swim...was good to have someone there to keep up with. I am pumped about my top 10 finish for my age group, that was one of my goals for this race and I did it!!! YEA.... Last updated: 2006-07-31 12:00 AM
