Swim
Comments: Swim went well. could only breath to right b/c of small waves. Attempted to draft for the first time. Not sure if it made a difference or not. Salt water and a wet suit make a big difference. being able to train the long course year round and the fact that the training pool is cold made race day easier. What would you do differently?: i had lost a lot of my lung capacity due to my not being able to train after a back injury. Being healthy will help a lot. Transition 1
Comments: had new cleats and pedals but i practiced the week of the race for about 30 min just getting in then out of them. There was a 1/4 mile run from swim end to t1. Bike
Comments: bike went well. I knew this would be my strongest even. my goal was to stay over 16 mph even with water bottle refills. What would you do differently?: more leg strength training to bump my pace up to over 18 Transition 2
Comments: volunteers take the bike and hand you the bag with your running gear. Run
Comments: this is where my back injury really showed. Not being able to run had killed my running endurance. I had lost feeling in my foot which my doc said meant i needed to stop. I walked almost the whole thing but was able to get feeling back in my foot. Again staying healthy is the key. Post race
Event comments: i will be doing the full next year. Last updated: 2014-11-21 12:00 AM
