Pre-race routine:

Say hello to the 30+ people from my running group! Keep warm, set up transition
Event warmup:

stretch a bit, keep warm
Run
  • 26m 3s
  • 2 miles
  • 13m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Still just getting back into running since the marathon a month ago--couple that with cold air; i was not really ideal with my running. In an case, I enjoy the trails there, and while slow, I still enjoyed myself.
What would you do differently?:

invest in something to keep my mouth and nose warmer so as to not impact my breathing with the cold air....that doesn't fog up my shades...
also...train a bit more.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

As this race was not officially timed, I took my own sweet time--even changing the workout on my "map my fitness" app! Yeahj--that wont happen at my other races!
What would you do differently?:

no tech.
Bike
  • 30m
  • 6.7 miles
  • 13.40 mile/hr
Comments:

For not having been on my bike more than once in the last 5-6 months or so, I was SPEEDY on this course! I was passing quite a few people --even on hills, which felt surprisingly not hard (not easy either, but that will come with more riding/training)admittedly, a lot of the other racers were on mtn. bikes, cruisers--and even one old rattle-y old schwinn courier bike!
What would you do differently?:

not a thing, I am happy with my biking.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Still messed with my phone app, but a little less issue this time.
What would you do differently?:

Again, no tech.
Run
  • 28m
  • 2 miles
  • 14m  min/mile
Comments:

A little more tired out, and my legs were not thrilled, but still was having fun.
What would you do differently?:

All comes back to training.
Post race
Warm down:

walked a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Myself. Lack of training...the usual

Event comments:

This is a race offered every year by Total Body Fitness--it is free to the first few hundred people or so, and then it switches to a $20 fee--which all goes to Girls on the Run. The race is held in a picturesque setting that also lends itself to decent get together space for after race festivities.
