Sunny
Total Time = 1h 11m 2s
Overall Rank = 40/516
Age Group = 30 - 34
Age Group Rank = 11/54
Pre-race routine:

This was my first tri, so I had no clue what to do. Got there really, really early as my wife was volunteering. Got everything setup and went back to the car to sleep more. Couldn't really sleep due to nerves so just closed my eyes for a while.
Event warmup:

None. Figured I'd warm up over the course.
Swim
  • 10m 53s
  • 528 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was a little overwhelmed with this being my first tri swim. The time trial start probably helped, but I still got banged up a little bit. Submitted a really slow estimated swim time, so I started at the back of the pack. Passed a lot of people on the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really since this was my first tri.
Transition 1
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

Very slow transition time. But then again, I had never done this before. So what could I have really expected? I'm fine with this time.
What would you do differently?:

Practice before the event so I know what the heck I'm doing.
Bike
  • 36m 59s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.47 mile/hr
Comments:

Hadn't put in much time on the bike prior to the race, so I never felt all that comfortable. Considering my lack of preparation, I feel I did alright.
What would you do differently?:

Practice. Train more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

Time wasn't too bad considering it was my first.
What would you do differently?:

Move quicker
Run
  • 19m 24s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good on the run, but that was to be expected as my background is in running. Running a 5K is nothing new, but this was the first time doing it after a swim and bike. I actually felt better than I normally do in a 5K and I attribute this to being warmed up. I also didn't push all that hard on the bike, so I had plenty in reserve.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a little bit. Drank some fluids and ate some.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of experience.

Event comments:

Very good event for the first time triathlete. Would definitely recommend it to others.
