Overall Rank = 933/1718
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 118/163
Pre-race routine:

Zero sleep, talked with friends, very nervous
Event warmup:

did some stretching, walked around, generally fearing the worst
Swim
  • 21m 59s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Need to start more in the middle, first tri so started way in the back and was immediately trying to pass people, which made it hard to get going, once in the groove did great. Pretty dizzy getting out of the water for the transition, took some time to get my breath back, but I beat my estimated time by 4 minutes!!
What would you do differently?:

wet suit may make the swim faster, and more training...
Transition 1
  • 05m 48s
Comments:

Still reeling from the swim, spent alot of time standing there catching my breath instead of putting on my shoes and catching my breath
What would you do differently?:

just go, catch my breath on the bike or while getting dressed
Bike
  • 48m 17s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 16.99 mile/hr
Comments:

used a hybrid bike with T handles. Beat my goal of 52 minutes!!
What would you do differently?:

bring my cyclometer!! Get a set of aerobars, maybe a whole new bike. My hybrid worked great, but the position was very uncomforatable, especially in the wind, and made it hard to get drinks
Transition 2
  • 05m 3s
Comments:

Wore my running shoes, long run through transition in uneven grass
What would you do differently?:

not sure where my time was spent since I already had the shoes on, wasn;t breathing hard, but did make a pit stop (very quick!!)
Run
  • 30m 40s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

OMG, that was brutal, at about the 1.5 mark, had to stop to adjust my chip, had rubbed raw, I was also dying at that point. Walked for 100 feet, sucked it up and was great the rest of the way.
What would you do differently?:

train better, but I beat my expected time by 4 minutes
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, alot!! Drank tons, ate a banana and walked more

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training, equipment (bike), transitions

Event comments:

Great race, volunteers were AWESOME!! It was my first tri, and I had no problems getting where I was supposed to be, in and out of transition, getting my packets, etc...very well organized
