Pre-race routine:

Kinvara shoes, zoot ultra shorts, under armor + long tech shirt.

Tried eating a bit more before this race - 2 pop tarts and 2 white toast (550 cals)

Still on my -500 cal deficit diet.

2K jog, no taper for this race so legs are heavy.

Comments:

A race is IMC so knew this was not going to be a PR. No days off before or after mean the effort was perfect training effect.

Post race
Warm down:

Went right home, and then out for a 90 minute hard bike. Legs and power were fine. No days off after race, just slower pace. This is good.



Event comments:

This is one race I've run every year since getting off the couch. Weather makes it hard to compare year to year but it's a good early race to aim and train for.

Was holding sub 4:15 until about the half-way mark - Garmin 920 crashed THREE times, and on the final time it wiped my activity (right at the finish line). HR was lower than potential, around 148-154.
Course: Reversed this year (so counter clockwise) - pretty much everyone agrees it's harder. It's always hilly but the uphills are endless while the downhills are more short and steep.
