Swim
Comments: This time is with the transition included. Actual time in the water was 6:50. HELLYES! I decided to try an inside left start this time and get myself right in the mess. Drafted lots, for the first time in a race. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Best race swim to date, and getting comfortable in the water was what I came to do. Transition 1
Comments: No official transition times, this is from my watch. What would you do differently?: I need to practice running out of the water in my wetsuit until it stops sucking so much. Bike
Comments: I was not used to these road conditions, everything felt slippery for some reason. No speed on computer AGAIN. Started pouring in the second loop; took it a little easy at that point. Hills are getting better. Still just using the aerobars as a helmet holder. What would you do differently?: Grow longer femurs. Transition 2
Comments: Split on watch was a minute when I started running from transition. Run
Comments: Actual time running was 27:22 (8:33 pace). I didn't really push this, had a 10M race four days earlier and just didn't have it in me. Let 2 women pass in the last half mile, so that was annoying. However, I felt great throughout so this is the pace to aim for during my upcoming Olympic distance race. What would you do differently?: Given the circumstances, nothing. Post race
Warm down: Chatted a bit and then packed up my stuff. Got a Wendy's Frosty on the way home and then ate leftover Chinese with some beer. That's umm... what real athletes do. Yeah. What limited your ability to perform faster: As usual, poor running skilz! Event comments: This is a low-key, bare bones, and casual event on a summer weeknight. For $15, you can't beat it. I'll do this next year to measure my improvement. (plattsys timing has messed up the placing, had to redo everything. BAH) Last updated: 2006-08-04 12:00 AM

The purpose of this race was to get more experience before my upcoming Olympic distance race. Goals were to not be nervous, get used to new race clothes, have an enjoyable swim, not do stupid things in transition, and just generally feel good about racing.
Worked. Stretched at home a bit, hydrated, and then packed up my gear. Bought a huge Snickers bar on the way, but never ate it.
Nothing really.
