Swim
  • 11m 50s
  • 656 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

First open water swim. Had some trouble getting deep breaths in the wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

Get to the front of the pack quickly and stay there.
Transition 1
  • 04m 20s
Comments:

First transition ever...and it was bad. Wasted energy getting my suit over my heels. Put my left glove on my right hand. Ranked #470 out of #541. Trainwreck.
What would you do differently?:

More body-glide on my ankles? Organize my stuff more efficiently. Calm down. Figure out a way to get my wetsuit off quickly.
Bike
  • 1h 01m 15s
  • 15 miles
  • 14.69 mile/hr
Comments:

The head wind was vicious...it wore me down. Being passed by fat men and old women on mountain bikes is depressing!
What would you do differently?:

Learn to ride hills and into head winds more efficiently. Get some aero bars and a water bottle cage to fit between the bars! Drink more water during the bike. Increase my training mileage.
Transition 2
  • 02m 58s
Comments:

Had trouble racking the bike...someone else had taken my spot. Problems tying my shoes. Took off about 10 paces for the run without my sunglasses...turned around and put them on. Ranked #520 of #541. Another trainwreck.
What would you do differently?:

Practice racking my bike. Keep my sunglasses on. Get some bungees for my shoes ties.
Run
  • 28m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was good for the first 2 miles...but developed a sideache. Had trouble breathing/running for the last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Concentrate on my breathing. More mileage...and do some track training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked...water...banana...gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need more training...especially on the transitions and the bike.

Event comments:

Race Director (Eric) is very novice-friendly. The race is very well-organized.
