Pre-race routine:

Got their 5 minutes before start time due to the wreck we witnessed on the I-280 Bridge. Barely got marked and into my wetsuit before the start.

Comments:

Felt good...got into a steady rhythm. Had to stop to site the buoys a few times. Breathing still felt a bit constricted. Rounded the buoy very well. Nice to be the passer...instead of the passee.
What would you do differently?:

Better sighting on the final leg. Practice breathing in the wetsuit.

The next to worst transition of the day...wow! Had a another tough time getting the wetsuit over my ankles! Dropped my sunglasses and the lens popped out.
What would you do differently?:

Bike in my running shoes...or get some real biking shoes. Get a less fragile pair of glasses.

Almost lost control when I re-racked my water bottle.
What would you do differently?:

More training mileage. Bike shoes. Need some aero bars and a water bottle between the bars.

Another poor transition. Had trouble finding my rack...and had to move other bikes out of the way. Couldn't get my "bike shoes" untied....very nervous. And had trouble lacing my running shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Need velcro quick release bike shoes. Need bungees for the running shoes...but can't find ones that I like.
