Swim
Comments: Got caught in the middle of a wide and deep (person wise) start. Felt up enough to warrant grabbing a quick smoke when I made it back to shore. Wasn't able to get into any kind of groove until after the turn. What would you do differently?: Better start position or get used to rabbit starts to get out in front or at least out of the way. Transition 1
Comments: Run from beach to transition took more time than I would have liked. Once there I know that I am going to be slow since I don't have tri specific shoes and I still have a thing for socks. What would you do differently?: I have to gear up if I'm going to get faster through transition and overall. That's all there is to it. Bike
Comments: Out and back with a narrow point turn around. Need aero-bars badly. Oh and it wasn't a closed course although they tried to control as best they could. Transition 2
Comments: Would have been minute fast but both calves cramped up when I put on my shoes. Had to stop to stretch them both out. Run
Comments: I'm not a betting man but if I were I would wager that the .3 was really .5. I was keeping an eye on my pace and stood at 21:50 at mile three. You cannot tell me that I ran the .3 in 2:55 while in my 5k pace. Hmmm... What would you do differently?: Watch my pace a little better. This was a slow 3 miler for me. My first mile was 7:10. I can comfortably cruise at 6:45. Post race
Warm down: Walking around - not enough. What limited your ability to perform faster: Transitions and gear. I will get there soon enough. Event comments: Bravo! Good race. Really nice folks. Lots of post race goodies. Good route. I would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a nice late summer sprint. Last updated: 2006-08-06 12:00 AM

Driving. 1:15. Register then relax - sort of. I got one big time nervous bladder. So my warm up includes several trips back and forth to the Lepra-Cann or Johnny on the Spot or whatever porta potty they used.
Swam about 300 meters. Good thing too. The first 10 to 20 meters from the sand was full of just below the surface plant growth. It was like hyrdroplaning through weeds.
