Pre-race routine:

Ate a Clif bar and drank about .5 liter of water approximately 1 hour before check-in time.
Swim
  • 18m
  • 800 meters
  • 02m 15s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim was like a log jam. By close to the end of the second lap I caught up to several people in front of me. I passed people when I could, including 3 people at once. Overall, the swim was much slower than I wanted. Ended spending a lot time doing breast stroke just to slow myself down to keep from running over people until a pass opportunity revealed itself.
What would you do differently?:

Overestimated my swim completion time on the registration form and got stuck with slower swimmers. Definitley, will try to place myself in the appropriate group or at least pass more aggresively. Lost at least a couple minutes due to this mistake.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Felt good about T1 was pretty good. Didn't place my bike very well in the transition area and had to jog it out of the transition area further than I would have liked.
What would you do differently?:

Place bike in a better position. Use the lap function on my watch to track in the transition times.
Bike
  • 43m 2s
  • 14 miles
  • 19.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike portion was exactly what I wanted. I rode fairly hard without over doing it. Felt strong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition. Racked bike, peeled off bike shoes, slipped on running shoes, grabbed my hat and I was off.
Run
  • 24m 45s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty good on the run, but was starting to feel a bit tired. Took water both times through water stop, drank some and poured rest over my head and back to keep cool.
What would you do differently?:

Overall, I was happy with my pace, but could have pushed the second half slightly harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around until I caught my breathe. Had a physical therapy group stretch me out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Biggest limiter was the log jam in the swim.

Event comments:
