Swim
Comments: First OWS ever. Barely before sunrise, swapped out for clear goggles at last second. Couldn't see a THING in the water. Now, this was my fastest ever 440 time, yet I had to stop once or twice, sight, move over, or switch to breast stroke. So either it was short, my pool is long, or I was really hyped up on caffeine and adrenaline. Can't figure it out. What would you do differently?: More OWS practice. more sighting, and just more swimming. Only had a month before to practice. Transition 1
Comments: I'd practiced a good bit the flying start onto bike, then getting into shoes. But not on a curvy coarse, while also messing with my GPS/HR watch. I'd opted for Smartwool socks, which was the right decision, but took a little time to wash gravel off feet, "dry" them, get socks on, get HR strap on, etc. What would you do differently?: Felt rushed, but still was slow. Maybe train without socks. Just more T1 practice, as I rarely practiced it. Bike
Comments: Mixed my Gatorade strong to keep me from over drinking, but it was TOO strong. Was burping it up. Fastest average MPH over 11 miles for me. What would you do differently?: Just train more. Need to build some leg strength. Transition 2
Comments: Transition area around my bike was all messed up, water bottle tipped over. I'd practiced flying dismount to running shoes a LOT so good to see my time and ranking here. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Was great. Overall place 62 for T2! Run
Comments: Went in with very high HR, had to walk/slow 9 times. But pushed hard for last .6 (7:40 average), and when I ran it was fast enough to give me a 9:20 overall. REALLY tight Achilles and calves off the bike. Goal was to beat 30 minutes, so success! What would you do differently?: Need to work on r. calf chronic issue, more running, harder bricks. Post race
Warm down: Stretch, chocolate milk, hamburger, lots of fruit, water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Haven't practiced fulls before coming in to my first tri. Need to get evaluated for my calf so I can run more. Event comments: Very organized, plenty of bathrooms, lights, nothing to complain about. Last updated: 2015-04-07 12:00 AM
