Pre-race routine:

Got up early with The Better Half and ate, then drove to race start (about 8 miles) and waited a bit in the truck. 'Twas a cold morning (mid 30's). Neither of us were trained for this, but we both wanted to check out the course, get a race and a longer run in. Totally worth it!

Comments:

Great race venue. Downhill and FAST point to point. Well organized (buses after were no problem to return to parking at the start). Lots of fun. We held a pretty steady pace and it was a great workout (if not a race). Definitely going to train a bit more specifically for this one next year and see what kind of time I can throw down.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, as we were just getting back into training. This was a nice, steady, long run and helped re-kindle the "I want to RACE" fire.
Post race
Warm down:

Usual stuff. Ate and drank some. Stood in line at the espresso truck (hey, it's Austin, after all!) with the female winner. Very nice person to chat with. She ran a 1:13, IIRC. Wow...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not training at all for the race.

Event comments:

Can't wait to come back next year!
