Swim
Comments: I still can't believe I did this well on the swim. Maybe the course was a little short? I was really unprepared for the swim, because I never even really swam this distance in training, and I only swam 3200 total yards in August. I train in a 20 yard indoor pool, and I really hate it. Fortunately, I love an OWS. If I could swim in a lake all the time, I would swim a lot more. Anyway I am amazed at how well I did considering I thought I might not even be able to finish. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Pretty slow here and I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe because I was amazed that I completed the swim. They had these fantastic flat wooden bike racks with slots to put your back tire in. All the slots were numbered so there was no confusion. At my last tri I had trouble racking my bike in T2 because someone had taken my spot. I think every tri should have racks like these. What would you do differently?: Have a greater sense of urgency. Bike
Comments: I really liked this bike course. I think I could have pushed a little more, but since this was my first oly, I was a little conservative. I climbed well passing people regularly uphill. What would you do differently?: Push more. Transition 2
Comments: Should have been faster. Soaking wet socks slowed me down. Racking the bike was a pleasure. Really, all tris should have these kind of racks. What would you do differently?: Just move faster. Run
Comments: Since my PR for a stand alone 10K is 54:44 I think this is pretty good. My legs felt strong, and even a little bouncy getting off the bike. Calves were a tiny bit tight, but really no problem. A good run for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked, talked and ate. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to train more and I'm slow. Event comments: My first oly and I broke 3 hours, so I am very happy. This was the first year for this race, and it was very well run. Lake George is a great venue for a tri because it's really pretty and a fun place for the family to visit. I hope this becomes an annual event because I will definitely come back. Last updated: 2006-08-07 12:00 AM

I made this a short family trip since Lake George is a very nice place to visit. Got into the hotel about 9 PM the night before the race. We stayed about half a mile from the race site which was a nice change from the usual hour or 2 drive to a race. Got up at 5:30 to have a protein shake with berries and cream because I like to have water only for about 2 hours before any kind of excercize.
It was cool and rainy so I just jogged a little on the beach.
