Pre-race routine:

Woke up early and was the first one to Transition like yesterday. OH yea, these is day 2 of racing. Yesterday I did the rattlesnake sprint!
Set up transition and laid in the car for a while.
Event warmup:

Rode the bike today to loosen up the legs. They did feel to bad today.
Dynamic stretching routine and a short jog. Also a few 50's of swimming before my start time. Time trial start on the swim which is one at a time.
Swim
  • 23m 24s
  • 1300 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was swimming well and then I ran on the beach to run and dive back in and my goggles came down on my face. Damnit. Fixed, which is hard while just kicking and then back out to finish. The swim was real good though, I felt smooth and navigated much better today. Got out of the water and went to the wetsuit strippers.
What would you do differently?:

Not dive like a dork. Adam was cracking up at my child like dive.
Transition 1
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

Second fastest T1. Damn, someone beat me by a second. Oh well, it was still good. Same as yesterday's time.

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 08m 48s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.67 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt very sluggish due to the hard effort yesterday. I really had to stay focused and spin alot today. My legs had nothing in them. A guy caught me right after the turn around and I picked it up with every thing I had and dropped him. I guess I had something. Pushed hard and just tried to keep the cadence up. The headwind on the way back was very tough. It made me slow down a bit. Many more hills today than yesterday. Decent effort and I was not passed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 32s
Comments:

Much better T2 today. I had the fastest time overall and was able to do the flying dismount toady since I remembered.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 41m 36s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

This killed me. I was just hangin on. The first part of the run was tough but I kept it easy. Picked it up through the middle miles and thought my legs were going to give out at mile 4. Luckly people were cheering me on and I just kept thinking about my candence and keeping it as fast as I could. Was trying to catch a guy that was ahead of me the sme distance the entire race. Never caught him. Had 2 guys pass me. Both were flying. I ended up beating them both because they started so far ahead of me on the TT start. That was cool. I finished with everything I had and was pleased with the result.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Beers, food, gatorade, talking with friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Racing the day before and doing a 1/2 ironman last Sunday.

Event comments:

Today's race was better than yesterday's because it was more organized and events were on time. + the weather was better. I was 3rd in my age group and 8th overall. I am happy with 2 podiums on back to back days of racing. It was nice to see Adam,Yvonne, Jen and Matt. Thanks for coming out to support! I am very tired and had a great time. I won another pocket knife! Now I have 2 of the smame kind. They did give out cool hat and I got a Sweat shirt and belt buckle for doing the back to back.
