Swim
Comments: Fairly pleased with swim time given the course set up. My heart rate felt higher than it actually was and I couldn't get it back down until 3-4 miles in the bike leg. What would you do differently?: nothing but log more time in the water. Transition 1
Comments: This needs to be faster considering some of the other transition times I've seen for this race. Bike
What would you do differently?: get more hill workouts in. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I need to be faster in the transition area. No problems with equipment. Run
Comments: This is where it went downhill. I was a little winded on the run and the course was very hilly with a doozy on mile 3. I started off OK with the first mile clocking in at a 8.15 mile. But I guess I bonked given my ending time. I think the course was actually longer than a 5K. But I still didn't have the energy I thought I should have for the run. What would you do differently?: Maybe take some type of gel or other fuel before the run. Train more. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank fluids as it was pretty warm by the finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: more training Event comments: Since this is my first race, I don't have anything to compare it to. My only suggestion would be to have better post race food for the competitors. The last thing I really want to eat when I'm finished racing is chips and queso. I thought this first year race went very smoothly and it was well run. I plan on doing it again next year. Last updated: 2006-08-09 12:00 AM

This was my first triathlon. I woke up my normal weekend time at 5am and ate PB&J sandwich and some yogurt, then flushed it down with some liquids. I got to the race at 7:30am and went through the body marking line and up to the transition area in plenty of time. This was a wave start, so I would start the race at 9:04am.
Not much of a warm-up, some stretching and a couple of short sprints to get the blood moving. I had a powerade gel about 30m before the start of my swim.
