Swim
Comments: I had this chick rubbing up on me so hard for the first 200 yards or so. I could not shake her. If I moved over to the right she moved with me, if I tried to speed up she sped up too. It felt like she had a personal vendetta against me. I do not mind the chaos of a swim but this girl was REALLY getting on my nerves. There were probably only 30 women in the wave start but she made it feel like 300. I would kinda love to hear her take on the swim and see if she blames me for everything I blame her for haha. On the way back in I had a terrible time sighting which is not like me at all. IMO the buoys were too far apart. I typically swim straight for the buoys in order to keep the shortest route but on the way back in to shore I was maybe 20 feet left of the buoy. So not like me and really upsetting. My Garmin map shows are fairly straight line so I guess I just swam straight to shore but far away from the buoys. What would you do differently?: I really don't know. The swim is my strength and it really just got away from me. My pace was not bad at all but I know I could have done much better. Transition 1
Comments: Apparently my best event in triathlons is transitions..... What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: I slowed down a lot on the turns because of potholes and wet roads. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I felt like all the issues were out of my control. There were a lot of issues. If you take out the constant threat of death then i loved the course and my performance. Transition 2
Comments: Went smooth What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I did not look at my garmin to see my pace which i think helped me stay positive and just try my best. Running is not exactly my strength so I just held on and tried my best. I was happy with my time. Post race
Warm down: Walked for a bit and drank water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Myself, poor buoy sighting, dangerous bike course. My confidence was high in this race which is great for me. Event comments: I would never do this race again on this course. It was just too dangerous and on too busy streets. I appreciate all the race director did and I also appreciate that he is going to try to move the course next year to make it more safe. Last updated: 2015-05-18 12:00 AM

Awake at 4:15 to get ready to head out the door. Had necessary coffee at home and then a bagel with PB in the car for the hour drive to Spruce Run Park. Arrived at the park around 6:20. Perfect amount of time to stand in line to get my packet and then stand in another longer line to get my timing chip. Then took about ten minutes to set up in transition. I didnt get a great spot in transition but it really didn't bother me.
You were able to get into water up until a few minutes before race start. However, I was the last wave to start and any "warming up" I did would have worn off by the time my wave started and I would have been freezing. So I opted out and pretty much just stood around and chatted and tried to keep my arms moving. Sipped on a vitamin water waiting for my wave to start and also ate a powerbar wafer about 30 mins before start.
