Swim
Comments: I had a hard time trying to finding my groove. I kept getting passed and finally realized I was swimming the speed as another gal who was doggy paddling. I realized I was swimming short. As soon as I started to stretch out my stroke, I started passing people, but I figured this out to late to make much difference. What would you do differently?: I just need more practice. I wasn't disappointed considering this was only my 3rd open water swim of the season. While my timing and placement was not great, it is probably what I could do. Transition 1
Comments: I am always a bit discombobulated after the swim. I decided to take it slow. What would you do differently?: I need to do some swim to bike bricks Bike
Comments: What can I say? I am not good on the bike. My bike is new (I got a sweet Trek SC 7.5 this year that I am figuring out) and I CHOKED. Mentally I choked. The hill climb was brutal and I ended up walking a lot of it and that just took me out of the race. Going down the hill, I was just plane scared. The descent is wicked. The road condition is nice, but I didn't know that going in so was on my brakes a lot. What would you do differently?: Maybe bring a different bike? I have a road bike with a triple on the front and even though heavier than my tt bike, might have been better suited for this course. Seriously, I HATE climbing and descending. I don't know that I will be back. Transition 2
Comments: I think I did ok. Seriously, I was just glad to be off the bike and couldn't wait to run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I had a great run. I should have considering I only did 12.8 mph while I was CHOKING on the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: I grabbed water and gatorade and just walked around looking for husband and friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: It was totally mental. I let the hills get the better of me. Event comments: This is an awesome race. Lifetime does a really nice job. Good food and prizes. The course is beautiful. I will go back for sure and do the Sprint. Not so sure I will ever want to go near that hill EVER again. Last updated: 2015-06-08 12:00 AM

I got to the venue the day before the race and picked up my packet and dropped off my bike in transition to be left overnight. I went to church at the Cathedral and then had dinner at Bub's with friends (Hawain Chicken Sandwich was very good). I also had 2 glasses of red wine (Pinot Noir). I stayed at the Holiday Inn. We got reservations months in advance as they sell out. Set the alarm for 3:30 am and had 2 waffles (lego my eggo) with pure maple syrup, lemon water with chia seeds and coffee.
Transition opened late due to storms but didn't really seem to affect to much. I jumped in the water and swam a bit just to try to get rid of the pre race jitters.
