Comments: Swim felt pretty good overall. 1st buoy was very choked w/ people but once past that it was all good. Transition 1
Comments: Got into the rack on the wrong side of the bike so was a little clumsy with that. Bike
Comments: Didn't do as well as I had hoped. Also this was not an open course and there are 4 roundabouts on this course. Car traffic was definitely in the way, especially at the turnaround roundabout where there were about 6 cars there while a bunch of cyclists were trying to turn there. What would you do differently?: Haven't been biking as much as I should have lately. Have to do more training to do better racing. Transition 2
Comments: Knew I didn't do so great on the bike so I didn't bother to push it here. Run
Comments: Was getting real tired and had to walk a lot. Finally tried to jog 2:30 and walk :30 just to give myself a jog goal before giving up and walking. That worked for a while but I was just too tired. What would you do differently?: Not a lot. I can't really run much to train or race so it just is what it is. Post race
Warm down: walked out to bring in a friend of mine. What limited your ability to perform faster: recent back injury prevented training of any kind for 2 weeks before the race; can't really jog much in training anyway. Got up at 4AM w/ Bob. Coffee, full breakfast of usual cereal since race isn't until 7:30. Packed the car & made our way to Fernandina.
Short bike ride around to warm up & check gearing on bike. Then racked bike, got transition set up & did a short jog and some stretching.
