Pre-race routine:

This was Team road trip for the year, We left Mobile on Saturday morning and arrived Saturday afternoon, picked up packets, checked into hotel then went to dinner. Quiet evening
Event warmup:

Fortunately we had great weather the morning of the race....the prior week had hovered into the upper 90s but it was comfortable race morning. Transition was wet from rain but other than that great conditions.
Got set up in transition...did a warm up run then caught the bus to swim start. A few jogs and strides while waiting for the race start.
Swim
  • 21m 1s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 24s / 100 meters
Comments:

Kept this nice and comfortable...certainly could have gone harder but the current helped me along
What would you do differently?:

Push harder...weakest leg
Transition 1
  • 02m 13s
Comments:

Nothing special...pretty average
Bike
  • 1h 09m 14s
  • 42 kms
  • 36.40 km/hr
Comments:

Kept a pretty steady pace/power but must not have pushed hard enough as many of my Team mates that I typically beat on the bike had faster splits. Marshall stopped right in front of me to set up an overturned cone at one point and I had to go off onto the shoulder.....lucky I didn't crash
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder but I was around 230 watts so about what I was shooting for
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Run
  • 44m 7s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 25s  min/km
Comments:

Pushed what I had but zero running for 2 weeks leading into the race definitely hurt over the last 2 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Light jog.....massage to work on calves which had been giving me trouble

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Very limited running over the prior month

Event comments:

Always a great race. Team placed 10 in the top 50. This was USAT SE Regional Championship so I got a cool hat as the SE Region champ for my age group. Not my best race but hung in there.
Team had a blast Sunday afternoon since we stayed Sunday night.....definitely some people suffering Monday morning after the Sunday festivities.
