Swim
Comments: I hit the water and was swimming well and then some guy started slapping my feet so at the next turn i went ahead and stopped to let him pass. I knew I was way ahead of my closest competator so I didn't mind loosing the time. Then the guy slowed way down and I had to slow down and shorten my stroke. After a bit i figured that a teammate of mine would catch me if I didn't get a move on and I had worked hard to pass him on the bike even though we aren't direct competators. I slipped around the guy easily enough and took off. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I was just coasting into the finish line. Transition 1
Comments: There was no way I was gong to rush through transition at this race. I have an ironman next weekend and I just strolled through transition like a tourist. Bike
Comments: the headwind was ferotious on the way out, probably a sustained 20 mph with gusts. It kept everyones outward bound speed down but them the ride back was awesome. I hit 35 mph and probably averaged 30 mph. I might have been able to go faster but the rough surface and occasional side gusts made the bike feel a little unstable. I went screaming but a number of folks and just had the time of my life. Transition 2
Comments: Ditto T1 except when I was strolling through T2 someone I had blown by on the bike was just rolling in ans said "Man, where did you get that power!?" and I shot back "Wal-Mart" and jumped into the pool to put this race in the books. Run
Comments: It was windy as hell and I tried to duck in behind another big Clyde to draft but he wasn't having any of it. He is a pretty good runner and knows I can beat him on the bike so he started swirving. I said, what the hell and pulled ahead of him ans told him to get in behind me and draft, maybe I could help him achieve a PR for this race. It wasn't my intention to hit this one hard anyway, I was just here for my wife and to try out my bike in a race setting since I had just gotten it back from the shop. Post race
Warm down: Just milled aroung and visited with folks. What limited your ability to perform faster: Wind and the fact that I was playing this one safe. Event comments: Dee Dee and crew put on a great little race at the Cotton Country. It is a small gathering, family friendly and good company. Last updated: 2006-08-12 12:00 AM

woke up at the hotel had a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of applesauce grabbed a shower and started hydrating on the way to the race.
Slow jog about a mile with some 25 yard strides thrown in. Also did about 2 miles on the bike at close to race pace and spent about 20 minutes streching.
