Swim
Comments: I got a good shot to the face early and ended up behind a slow swimmer despite starting up front. I probably took it out a bit too early due to my aggressive line. The back half waned in performance but I was ahead of most people at that point. Worth noting there was about 200M of running before T1 started. What would you do differently?: I'd start on a less aggressive, outside line and wait for the dust to settle before making my move to the inside. My strength is distance swimming and I should be more comfortable with that over getting off to a fast start. Transition 1
Comments: I caught my bike on a pump/the hanging rails, and overall fiddled with my shoes and ended up going sockless. I need to do better stripping in advance. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions, buy a pair of tri-oriented shoes. Bike
Comments: I'm not a strong cyclist, and wasn't helped by my lack of good shifting. I spent a lot of time in aero, which I'm happy with, but think I could've gone a bit harder. My chain fell off from an overshift at the top of the biggest speed hill and I probably lost a top-10 finish because of it. Overall, happy with my performance but I need to spend more time on the bike! What would you do differently?: Check my FD before setting out on a course, stay seated on climbs and spin more. Transition 2
Comments: This one was better. Took off flying, should have had a sip of gatorade. What would you do differently?: Have something to drink! Run
Comments: wheels were a little rusty to start, but I warmed up well. Cramped towards the finish line, and I blame that on taking ZERO nutrition on the bike. Cadence was decent. Passed an AGer 400M out to take home the win. What would you do differently?: Try to set out a little faster. That first mile is always tough to get into- I'd Post race
Warm down: just a little walking and light stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of bike fitness, lack of nutrition, poor transitions, and the chain fall-off. Event comments: This is a great course and a really well-run race. They were short on volunteers (could've used a couple for course turns/etc.) but overall, a highly recommended, intimate event that serves beer after! Last updated: 2015-07-08 12:00 AM
