Swim
Comments: I had to stop 3 times. Twice from my goggles being filled with water. Another time I was freaking out because I couldn't see. I ended up wiping my goggles and I could finally see again and everything was well. I was WAY left because I needed to adjust goggle in some peace. Costly but water in my eyes sucked more than 1-2 minute slower than goal time. What would you do differently?: New goggles? They are pretty new. Don't know why they were so bad this race. Transition 1
Comments: Little slow putting shoes on. I really need some tri shoes. 3 straps really slow me down. What would you do differently?: Mount faster. Bike
Comments: Power was 20-40 watts lower than I expected. First lap was nice but lap 2 and 3 sort of sucked with the traffic and slower people. What would you do differently?: I got 3.5 hours on the trainer a day before. That didn't help but this is a race I was just training through. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: I lost my race belt, so I had to put on a shirt with my bib pinned to it. That took some seconds. Since I had a hat and glasses, I worried about running with trying to put on shirt so I had to do it at bike. Run
Comments: Course was about .06-.08 long. Everyone complained about it. Not horrible but when they had mile marker #3 and the rest of the course is blind due to corners and brush, it sort of stunk. The run was pretty good. It was mid 80's at this point. I was breathing VERY heavily but saying good job to the people I passed. I could tell I was working way harder than them. I worried it would come back to bite me but luckily I kept a decent pace until the end. What would you do differently?: Slower than I wanted. Could be from brick workout the day before or the temps. Did pretty good for me though. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed an towel they had in ice water and stood there for 10 minutes. Those felt like heaven after running in the heat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Brick workout the day before. Event comments: This is the first triathlon I did when I started triathlons. 4 years later, I got my first age group award here today! Was super pyched. My friend got 1st and is in my age group, so that knocked me from 3rd to 2nd in AG and I got a little plaque. Last updated: 2015-07-12 12:00 AM
