Swim
Comments: Felt great after the swim. This was my first competitive open water swim and I feel like I exceeded my expectations. I was in the novice group so we went last and allowed for a little more space at the start. What would you do differently?: Get more experience swimming distances in open water to improve site techniques. Transition 1
Comments: Putting on socks and shoes right after the run took some time, but it was easier than I thought it would be. What would you do differently?: Work on transition technique. Bike
Comments: As this was my first triathlon, I decided to use my mountain bike and not invest in a road bike quite yet. I feel this really slowed me down as I had expected it to, and finished with a pace that I realistically expected, but had hoped to outperform. The hills were rolling and I could really feel myself slowing on the uphills. What would you do differently?: Since I really enjoyed the experience, I will now start to look into investing in a road bike and go on longer rides while I continue my training. Transition 2
Comments: I already had my running shoes on since I used them for the biking portion, so this transition was just racking my bike and gulping some electrolytes. What would you do differently?: Continue to work on transition technique. Run
Comments: The run was mostly shaded, which was a nice break since it was getting pretty hot. It was tougher than I expected. What would you do differently?: Continue to work on my brick workouts and go on longer runs for training. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and gatorade and ate some pizza and a banana. Walked around for about 30 minutes and gave my legs some good stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited experience and riding with a mountain bike. Event comments: Great race for my first triathlon. Will look forward to doing it again next year with more experience and training to see how much I can improve! Last updated: 2015-07-15 12:00 AM

Woke up early and got to the site by 5:30. Had heard parking was not great so decided to get early. Ate a bagel and some fruit and a few chews closer to race start.
