Event warmup:

Biked and ran/walked a short distance, stood in line for bathroom, light stretching
Swim
  • 10m 50s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim went pretty well. My back cramped up on me, but relaxed out after the first 50m. I wasn't able to get as good of a pull with my left arm as I would of liked with my shoulder, but it didn't start hurting (or at least I didn't notice it) until after it was over. I had to swim around some people at the beginning that were either stopped, breast stroking, or back stroking, but after the first 150m it all went fine. I was able to relax, and still felt like I could have kept swimming for quite a while, which is good for next week! My time for the 400m was somewhere around 11min, I'll have more accurate results later.
What would you do differently?:

not hurt shoulder immediately before!
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

run to bike - went okay, didn't get going too fast though
Bike
  • 22m 1s
  • 6 miles
  • 16.35 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike went really well, I was able to push myself throughout, but didn't kill myself. I might have been able to go a little bit harder, but the course was crowded, with a lot of the people not being very experienced riders (weaving, not staying to the right). which made it hard to navigate around them. I was excited though, even though it is kinda shallow of me, that I was not passed by anyone on the bike, and I passed all except for one person that I was using as a rabbit, so it went pretty well.

The time includes both transitions
What would you do differently?:

corner better, be more aggressive coming around the kiddies
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

bike to swim, slow getting stuff off and bike up (hurt my shoulder), good job running to put goggles in and get in pool
Run
  • 36m
  • 3 miles
  • 12m  min/mile
Comments:

The run started out well for the first mile, then my stupid abdominal cramps started and kinda shut me down. I kept pushing it, even when I was walking, and although I struggled, I still had a decent time for me on a xc course.
Post race
Event comments:

very good beginner race. Based mainly on your run, others don't make that much difference here. being slow on your run makes it difficult to get around everybody on the bike and swim
