Swim
Comments: one of my better swims that I have had in an open water swim. One reason is the water was absolutely flat, almost like swimming in a pool. Got in a groove and kept my mechanics close to correct. What would you do differently?: push just a little harder Transition 1
Comments: not the greatest. part of it was the distance between timing mats. part of it was getting shoes out of plastic bag they were in to try and keep them somewhat dry. Bike
Comments: not a bad ride, but I need to be faster in Duke to make time goals. I wonder if I am not pushing enough in the ride trying to save for the run What would you do differently?: push harder Transition 2
Comments: about par for the course. long run from timing mats but other wise good Run
Comments: happy with run given the three climbs. Where the climbs were, I never got into a rythm on my run. Just as I would get into it, down a steep hill or up a steep hill. If it had been rollers, I might have been faster. I feel like I could have kept this pace for a while which bears well for Duke What would you do differently?: not sure there is much except run steep hills in practice and continue to run more so as to not walk the hill. Post race
Warm down: light stretching and massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: overall strength level and fitness level. this was a hills course and I am just not there yet. The other thing I am beginning to wonder about is whether I am pushing enough in the bike. Event comments: will definately do this one again. It is a challenge, pardon the pun, but a fun one. I want to come back next year and cut down on my time on the bike and run. Last updated: 2006-08-14 12:00 AM

not much different: get up early, drive an to race site drinking water along the way
got transition set up and not much else. Raining to beat the band. Was able to find Dan Arnett (Marvarnett) just before swim. Was not able to find him afterwards. Probably because he finished well before I did.
