Run
Comments: With the poor run condition I'm in after the 4 month layoff because of injury, I was correct in my concern with putting in a good performance. This was a disaster. Probably went out just a bit too fast and then left inside thigh area cramped up on the service road. Halfway up the switchbacks I knew I needed to shut it down. Just in terrible running condition. Started up but then walked again only a couple minutes later. Finally reaching the top, gutted it out to get into T1. What would you do differently?: Need more time to get back into running condition. Transition 1
Comments: Forgot to unclip my chin strap before the race. Fumbled with that for a few seconds. Rookie mistakes...not good. What would you do differently?: Get it together! Bike
Comments: Not having my PM/Speed threw me for a bit. Had to ride completely on feel. This is where my HR would've come in handy. Much easier riding at a specific number. One rider passed me fairly early on. I passed about 10. Rode pretty much all alone for the second half of the course. Found out later the reason my speedo wasn't working was because my disk wasn't centered and was too far from my sensor. Worse yet, my right brake pad was rubbing...not a ton but enough to cost me a minute or more. My average speed was a bit low... Last time I was over 24 mph. What would you do differently?: Check bike over. Again a bit rusty. Transition 2
Comments: Couldn't unclip my chin strap. Terrible. Run
Comments: Felt like I walked as much as I ran. This was an embarrassment. Enough said. Post race
Warm down: Hardly made the finish line so there was no warm-down. More like sit-down. Retire the Zoots...hard on the feet these days. What limited your ability to perform faster: Can't run. But considering the tough run courses and coming off an injury, a win is a win. Lucky I can gap my AG on the bike. This won't be a fond memory though. Event comments: Awards took way too long to get started. Award was a water bottle! Although I didn't deserve even that with the way I ran. I heard the grumblings from others also. The results were posted and updated nicely however. I think the finish clock was turned the wrong way. A few tweaks would make it much better. Last updated: 2015-08-06 12:00 AM

Normal pre-race breakfast. Haven't raced so was a bit rusty loading my gear. Left 15 minutes later than I wanted. Nice morning weather. Already had my race packet.
After setting up my bike, ran a few 1/4 milers.
