Swim
What would you do differently?: try to break away from pack, I couldn't seem to get away from a large group and found myself getting kicked or providing kicks. The fact you could stand for at least half of the swim actually relieved a lot of anxiety with the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Good T1, no issues. Can always be faster. What would you do differently?: Nothing, for the race I thought it was a good transition. Bike
What would you do differently?: More training, setting a cadence that pushes a little more. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Again, happy with transition. Run
Comments: Nearly entire course was shaded, given the temp, this was a very good thing. What would you do differently?: Would have worn different shoes for the trails and rough terrain. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Just moved to VA, rolling hills and inclines are a huge adjustment from coastal NC. Need more time getting used to that on bike and run. Last minute decision to enter race, so very little training and zero swim training the 2 months leading up to the race. Event comments: I thought the race was great. Very well marked courses and Transition area. The fact you could stand the entire out portion of the swim course was a little odd and may be a turn off for some serious competitors, but for those of us weekend hacks it was a nice relief. If I was staying in the area for more than a few months I would add this to my annual schedule. Last updated: 2015-08-14 12:00 AM
