Swim
Comments: Start was bumpy. I got kicked and stroke by other swimmers a few times. One guy almost swam me over, but I fought back. The rest of the course was much better as I got used to the temperature and found my rhythm. What would you do differently?: Position myself better - in the back but further away from the group. Transition 1
Comments: I really took my time in T1. No rush. What would you do differently?: If it was about the time, I would place biking shoes on pedals and run bear foot to engage the bike. Bike
Comments: I felt really good on the bike and did it in pretty comfortable pace. I did not push myself much. What would you do differently?: Again, if it would be about time, I could push harder. Transition 2
Comments: I took it easy. What would you do differently?: Could be faster if leaving my shoes on bike. Run
Comments: I started to fast and elevated heart rate too much. The slowed down and kept the rate below 150. In addition, I had to use toy-toy once. What would you do differently?: Run with my pace all the distance. Post race
Warm down: Rode my bike back to Morton Grove - 15 miles. What limited your ability to perform faster: I took too much time in transitions, not enough effort on bike, and improperly paced the run. Event comments: Very well organized, but too crowded. I just wanted to race with my son again and his fiancé who was running her first triathlon ever. Last updated: 2015-08-20 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:45am. Small coffee and two slices of bread with white cheese. Parked the car at work in Morton Grove and rode the bike to transition for late check in. Arrived at 6:40am and still was able to find a good spot to rack my bike. I was ready out of transition around 7:30am. My wave 48 planned start was at 9:59am. Plenty of time to relax.
17 mile bike ride to transition was a pretty good warm up, but I did some stretching before swim anyway.
