Pre-race routine:

Got up too late to do much of anything. Had a cup of coffee and a piece of peanut butter toast as we ran out the door.
Event warmup:

It was raining pretty hard so we stayed in the building till about ten minutes before the start. Jogged out to the start line (maybe half mile away) and did some light stretching.

Comments:

Not quite sure how difficult this course was supposed to be, but two inches of rain made it pretty hard. Right at the start people were slipping in sliding in the mud, saw at least three people go down. Once you got past the first 100yards footing was pretty good for the next mile. After mile one, you entered the woods and that's where the fun began. Lots of trees to jump and low hanging branches to duck under. Course was VERY narrow, if you wanted to pass someone you had to go bushwacking, which I did several times. This mile kept winding back on itself and was very muddy, every time you tried to make a turn you went sliding off into a tree.

After mile two, we had a quarter mile run till the first ditch jump. Timed this jump perfectly, made it across the water but unfortuneately the guy in front me lost his footing on the back bank. I flew into him, guy behind me flew into me, guy behind him tried to stop but just ended up in the ditch. We helped each other out and made sure everyone was OK and proceeded to the next one. Did not time this was so good, ended up with both feet in the water, but made it up the bank a little better. After the last jump, it was a half mile open field run till the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I ran this race just to have fun and I accomplished that.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some water and then walked back to finish area to wait for my wife to finish (she was muddier than I was). We stayed for the raffle because they had some good stuff to give away (hotel stay, free dinners, $100 gift cards). We didn't win the raffle but we did get age group awards. Brandy took 2cd in her division and I took 3rd in mine.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing, I was just out to have fun today. Even if the course was perfectly dry, I had no intentions of trying to set a PR.

Event comments:

This was a fun race, good volunteers and a great raffle afterwords. It was a blast to do in the rain. I doubt the coordinators want it, but I am hoping for rain next year.
