Swim
Comments: Made it through the entire swim on free with one stop to get a wayward swimmer off my back and one to pick up a buoy. A really comfortable swim. What would you do differently?: Not much. I was a little discouraged at my time. I thought I'd be faster with all free. Transition 1
Comments: A good transition with a longer than average run in and out of Transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: A good ride. I probably pushed a little too early to try to PR. A very pleasant ride on a scenic country valley road with pretty manageable rolling hills. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: A good Trans. Really nothing that threw me off. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: A tough run. Low 90's with some deceptive hills and almost no flat spots. My hopes for a sub-1:40 were quickly squashed, but I kept grinding and felt good about the outcome. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Lots of water and find some shade! What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat! Event comments: Great volunteers and aid stations on the run. Markers every mile on the bike were a pleasant first. A great course with a very challenging run. Just a little unorganized. We started about 5 minutes late on a chilly morning. The post-race was a little weak also. Food was very average, no electrolyte drinks, which would have been very welcomed. Also ran out of beer very early in the festivities! Pretty typical pre-race. A little longer drive than normal. Up really early, so I ended up drinking a little more coffee than normal. Everything else was by the book.
5 minutes of swim warm up and some light stretching.
