Event warmup:

Drove two hours to the event site and found a good parking spot. Used the portos, warmed up by the propane heaters, did high knee steps, had a Cliff bar and a couple of bite size Snickers.
Run
  • 32m 41s
  • 2.86 miles
  • 11m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Had nothing to drink before the race, other than my breakfast smoothie. Just ran as fast as I could. The trail was icy in places as it was close to freezing, so there were times when I had to slow down and be very careful so I didn't slip and fall.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I did my best.
Post race
Warm down:

Found a chocolate milk and a banana. Checked out the vendor booths, waiting for the Ethiopian restaurant to open.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My body. I ran as fast as I could and tried to stay focused.

Event comments:

Excellent race, lots of volunteers and pre- and post-race activities and vendors. Relatively flat race route. Not quite a 5K, however.
