Run
Comments: Started off a little faster than I wanted as was trying to get past people and be able to run without running into the person infront, remembered to wave to the cameras but never saw myself on TV. At the 2k mark I got into a nice rhythm and was keeping the pace (4.45 per K) that I wanted to try and get under the 50min mark. The termp started to go up as the sun came out and was feeling thirsty even though I had drank plenty before the start and was pleased to see the water station at the 5k mark. Legs were starting to feel it towards 6k but I told myself to get over it as was on the way back now, could feel myself slowing down fractionally but was still trying ot keep the pace I wanted but the splits were going up but was still pushing hard. At the 8k mark I could see the where the finish but was struggling with the pace and HR was up to 185 but I was still determined to try and get under 50mins, at the 9k mark the signs started counting you down by 100m and I was convinced they were lying to me as they seemed longer, I knew I had to try and sprint to get the time but the legs wouldn't respond, tried to sprint passed the cameras but wasn't that successful and then finished. Checked the time and was very happy with the time even though I had just missed out on sub 50mins as it was a 17min improvement on last year! Post race
Warm down: walked through the finishing an picked up goody bag, then walked 10 mins to the pub where I met up with my wife wh0 thankfully hadn't bankrupted me and grabbed a beer. Was joined by some friend who had also ran the race and drank a fair few more beers! What limited your ability to perform faster: need to train at distances longer than 10k so my legs would survive Event comments: love the race, the crowds and atmosphere! got up and messed about waiting for the time to get out the house, had some porridge, banana and a flapjack bar. Got the train into Manchester with my wife and walked towards the staging area for the start of the race. Said goodbye to my wife as she went off shopping and started praying she wouldn't empty my account on clothes! The start this year seemed a lot busier than last but everybody was having fun!
did the warm up with everybody else at the start as some guy was directing us!
