Run
Comments: Allergies been killing me all week, plus a little bit of a stomach bug going around the house. First mile I tried to hang with the 2:15 pacers but saw my HR climbing higher than I wanted to be this early in the race. Notices that my HR has been on average 5-10 beats higher all week (I guess the Allergies are to blame for that). Pretty chilly out there first couple of miles after the heavy downpours and sun was barely coming up. I'm glad I wore long sleeve shirt and tights. Everything pretty much went according to plan, started to speed up on mile 9, but soon realized I wasn't able to hold that speed and did have a rough mile for mile 12. Goal was to beat 2:30 which I did, so very happy with that. 1st Half Marathon for me and marked a milestone. 3 years after the peak of my GBS Syndrome symptoms where I could barely move my legs. What would you do differently?: Try to slow it down a little more in the first half to have a little bit more juice left on the 2nd half Post race
Warm down: Grabbed goodies and food, walked around a little bit. Wind had picked up and it was pretty cool. What limited your ability to perform faster: Allergies in week leading up to race and don't think all of my damaged nerves have quite recovered yet. Event comments: Nicely organized as all events usually are by Onurmark. Last updated: 2016-01-29 12:00 AM

Got up at 4am. Ate a Peanut Butter Sandwich and headed out the door around 4:30 am. 5 minutes after leaving the house the heavy downpours started. Major thunderstorms with some hail. Drive to the site was nasty with lots of rain, some hail and strong winds. Got to the event site a little after 5am and then pretty much sat in the car until the rain died down, which was about 30 minutes before race start.
It was pretty chilly outside so just did a little bit of warm up starting about 10-15 minutes before the race.
