Total Time = 1h 10m 14s
Overall Rank = 22/173
Age Group = F 35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/23
Event warmup:

Couple hundred yards in the pool. Practiced passing and turning into neighbors lanes.
Swim
  • 03m 29s
  • 275 yards
  • 01m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had starting number 33. I still ran over 2 groups of people and ended up combat swimming over and around them. I put down I was going to do a 3:20 time. ARg!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing- it's so short.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

So happy with the transitions. I jogged through instead of walking. I beat out the guy that was behind me both times. They put the whole transition area in the parking lot that flooded. When we got out there everything was in mud and puddles.
What would you do differently?:

Keep practicing, think about running faster through the transition. I'm liking the improvements and I finally feel like I know what I'm doing. It's become more routine.
Bike
  • 35m 12s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 17.90 mile/hr
Comments:

The weather played a major role here. The rain was hard and it stung. The lightning and thunder was intermittent. Really glad to be done.
What would you do differently?:

I did the best I could today.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Again it was so wet. Took time on the dismount. My hat was full of mud when I plopped it on my head. Somewhere around here I lost my favorite sunglasses that were in my back pocket. I'm very happy with the time. I don't feel like I gave up the race in the transitions this year.
What would you do differently?:

Not put my hat on!
Run
  • 28m 16s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I almost cried when I saw the results. I felt like I was running the hardest 32 minute 5k of my life. My feet were so heavy and soggy. there was a mud section, a river section and a swimming section. I think every lightning strike made me pick up my pace.
What would you do differently?:

Not a damn thing! As bad as my run is compared to everyone else I'm pleased with this result. This represents big improvements for me.
Post race
Warm down:

walked along the course cheering for my fellow team mates and competitors.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weather and weight. I can't do anything about the weather but I can put down the pizza and blue bell for a while.

Event comments:

Even with the weather event this is 1 of my favorite races. After racing through the Playtri races I really appreciate the DAR events. They are more organized. I felt informed every step of the weather delay. I will absolutely do every DAR race I can, TexasMan here I come!
