Swim
Comments: It was a fine swim for me, no one passed me and I passed the girl in front of me. I later learned that she won my age group. So, she sure wasn't worried about me!! So once again...big whoop, lot of good it does a fast swimmer in a triahlon! Transition 1
Comments: Kinda long transition, but I was not hurrying. Another goal was to hit my watch and bike computer at every transition. What would you do differently?: Towel off a bit--my socks were wet and sticky. Bike
Comments: I was very cautious on this bike. I knew it was hilly, and I know my tendency to go hard on the bike, but I kept thinking about that hellish hilly suburb-from-hell run route. I caught the second train and sat for 1:45! I listed the adjusted time on my training log but I better suck up and take the official time. I heard an official describe it as "same as if you got a flat".Ok. whatever! It was great to see Brandon out there, a friendly face! What would you do differently?: Well, in this case I would say run more, so I would feel more comfortable going harder on the bike! Transition 2
Run
Comments: I was pretty proud of myself on making this run. I felt fine getting off the bike, went at my own pace and focused on mental attitude. I ran up every hill until the 2 mile mark water station, walked a bit after the cup of water, but no more than 30 sec. I just focused on the ground ahead of me and didn't think about the top. The downhill at the end was great, as well as hearing getsome and his lady cheering me on! What would you do differently?: Well, that's easy. Run more, run more hills, and lose 20 pounds. HA! Post race
Warm down: Walked around and met other BTers KTriathlete, talked to Chris, getsome and lady. Sorry I missed the other MO BTers! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training, but I am proud of the effort and my attitude. This felt so much better than South County, when I had to walk and coudln't get my heartrate down. I guess the more you race, the more you learn. Event comments: I really liked this race. It wa challenging, the volunteers were nice, nice shirt, and a nice free little meal to go with the awards. I KNOW I will win a bike raffle one of these days! Last updated: 2006-08-18 12:00 AM

If setting off the smoke alarm with my burning toast is going to be my routine, then forget it!! OK, new toast, oatmeal, all packed and ready to go. Stopped at a 24 hr STeak and Shake for some gross coffee.
Just stretching, and talking to getsome and ladygetsome and a nice girl racked next to me.
