Pre-race routine:

Ken and I took the RV up Friday got up to there at 3 or so, First packet pick up that had beer tasting nice. Got back had some chicken and beer. Nice camp site and quiet. So off toe bed about 10.
Event warmup:

Saw Ken off on the Oly wave and spent ten minute trying to squeeze my sweaty body into a little to small wet suit then got in the water to get it wet inside. Took a couple strokes after we were able to get in the water.

Comments:

Wasn't able to get up front. Started row back. Bad choice. Got mixed up with all kinds of people. Took half way out the first leg to get to the front of the pack and some room. Its basically a triangular out, short across and back.
Coming back is a bitch. I did remember not to leave my goggles in the porta pottie this time.
What would you do differently?:

Position better.

Comments:

Got caught in the wait for traffic. After hitting the pp, At least no one was screaming and yelling that it was unfair.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.

Comments:

It was a ride. to fat on the up hills nice fast descents down. Some where around 3000ft of climbing. Only a couple stiff hills rest good rollers. There is one spot where I swear its downhill but you have to gear way up. Weird. One ahole out there could figure if he wanted to go slow or fast. Would pass him then he would come back then he was drafting off someone. then he took off for 15 miles i had to pass him a mile from the bike finish.

Comments:

Oh what fun you can have when you don't want to run. Change my shorts, shirts and socks shoes. Head to porta potty the return to bike to get knee brace. Pay for pizza I had delivered and generally fuck around till Ken saw and I finally had to go run this thing.
Run
  • 3h 18m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 15m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Course is a little different this year. They took out two long stretches that were e a real drag. Nice. I also knew this run would be a little bit of a drag. After a mile I figured the best way to make this a positive run then spread a little positive. Cheered on everyone I passed. Worked a bit.
Post race
Warm down:

Got a picture with my medal and then walked to the beer tent.

Event comments:
