Swim
Comments: First wetsuit swim of the year and given I'd be swimming half of what I'm planned and trained for I decided to push it. I had a very hard time sighting and found myself zig zagging a lot but after the final turn I was able to find a group that moved at the right pace for me which helped me finish strong. What would you do differently?: Work on sighting and practice swimming in my wetsuit. The buoyancy is great but it's still a strange feeling to me and with more practice I'm sure I could figure out how to use it more to my advantage. Transition 1
Comments: The rain was coming down by this point so besides my socks, shoes, everything being wet I felt this went about as well as it could have. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions and removing my wetsuit Bike
Comments: This is a very fast course with only 1 climb which is pretty short and not that steep. I planned on pushing much harder on the bike but given the rain and the fact that my tires slipped on 2 turns I decided to play it safe. Getting to transition safely was much more important than an extra 1-2 mph I feel I could have gotten. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Riding in heavy rain/winds is no joke! I drank 1 bottle of Heed and probably another 20 ounces of fresh rain water! Transition 2
Comments: I unclipped my shoes as opposed to taking my feet out and leaving my shoes on my bike which felt right given the rain and how slippery everything was. Slipped my shoes, visor and race belt on and off I went. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Run was an out and back course with a few short but steep hills mixed in. The puddles and rain made the run interesting but overall I'm happy with my pace. My goal was 20 mins for the run but I'm not disappointed with my result. What would you do differently?: Keep working on my speedwork Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and stood in the rain waiting for the awards ceremony before being told it was cancelled. Had a protein bar on the way home and overall felt pretty good. Event comments: All things considered, the race was great. The course was well marked and the race director definitely made the right call cancelling the Olympic distance. I will do this race again. Everything was well organized and fun! Last updated: 2016-04-05 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5, checked the race website to see if the race was cancelled due to the incoming storms and with nothing posted I hit the road. I ate a almond butter, banana and honey sandwich on the way while sipping on a bottle of Nuun (with caffeine).
I signed up for the Olympic distance course but found out that due to the weather they cancelled the Olympic and announced that everyone was doing the Sprint. Annoying but given the weather it was definitely the right call. I went for a short swim and did a few minutes of active stretches before getting in the water.
