Swim
Comments: My wave included 3 age groups so it made for a crowded swim. I also got kicked in the head because of it! That was a first for me. I was fortunate that it was a little tap and not a big kick! This was also the first time I actually concentrated on my stroke the entire time and my time improved because of it. I'm proud of my swim...at Silverlake in May (a 400 meter swim) I finished in 10:50, so I improved quite a bit. What would you do differently?: Start closer to the front. Transition 1
Comments: I always have slow T1 times because of my shoes! I have to sit down and I always struggle getting them on so it takes forever! After Arizona I plan to stick to sprints for awhile, so I'll buy new shoes then. I guess I'll just have to try and be faster at Try Andy's. What would you do differently?: Move faster. Bike
Comments: I felt good the whole ride. I passed a few people and got passed by 2, but I passed them on the run, so it's ok. My goal was to average around 18.6 so I'm happy with 19.3. What would you do differently?: Not much...train more to go faster! Transition 2
Comments: Not quite as slow this time, but still slowest of top 5. I don't practice transitions, but I think I'm going to start. What would you do differently?: Move faster. Run
Comments: So much better than River Cities! Having run along Cinco Ranch down to Mason several times and around the lakes in the past gave me the confidence I needed. I knew exactly where I was the whole time and that felt good. I pushed as hard as I could coming off the bike and when I got to the first water stop at 8:08 I was pretty happy. I stopped to drink water because I can't drink and run and apparently I can't drink and walk either because I started coughing and couldn't breathe! :( I took a little longer at the water stop because of that but oh well. I ran the second mile in 8:09 and during the third lap I started to get a pain in my side. I slowed down a bit hoping it would go away and I could pick it up again, but no such luck. I finished that mile in 8:40. What would you do differently?: Keep running hard through the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Found my husband, dad and daughter and stood in the shade for a bit. Ate a sandwich and some pasta while my daughter played on the playground. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much. I was really pleased with my results. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race especially since I live down the road. I enjoyed the course and the post race party had lots of foods to choose from. Last updated: 2006-08-21 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:15. Drank an Ensure and had 1/2 a PBJ sandwich. Got dressed and waited for my dad to come over to stay with my daughter. Rode our bikes from our house to the race site (about 2.5 miles). Stood in line to get marked. Racked my bike, set up transition, then went and got my chip. Headed over to the swim site a little early to make sure my orange swim cap was ok for the pink group. Waited around for my dad and my daughter to get there.
Watched the first few waves go while hanging out with my daughter and dad. It was nice to have a cheering section. Normally it's just me and my husband.
