Swim
Comments: Drafted off a few guys at start---had a mixed wave which seemed like mostly men. Ran into lots of breast strokers (I hate the kicks) and a few panicked swimmers. Friends said it looked like I was one of firsdt women out in my wave; I felt like I was way behind.Turns out to be one of my fastest swims yet. What would you do differently?: Learn not to get so aggrevated with the breast strokers. Not spot as much. Transition 1
Comments: Racked near swim in/run out...so had to take bike a 2 minute walk/run up a hill to get to the bike in/out area. Although I was only 3 racks in from the end (about 30 bikes) What would you do differently?: Rack closer to the bike out instead of the first bar I see my wave on Bike
Comments: Was actually sorta liesurely at times. Did not push it hard. Coasted down several hills, but still pushed it at times. I rode my own race, not chasing anyone for more than 30 seconds. Drank 1 bottle of water. What would you do differently?: More focus; not coast on as many hills....but it saved my legs TO DO THE BEST RUN EVER FOR A TRI!!!! (Walked bike to and from) Transition 2
Comments: Side of hill...uneven grass. Decided to walk bike in. Tran area good. Nice quick out. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Started off great-no wobbly legs. Drank water at most stations...walked after I grabbed a cup...not more than 20 seconds each. DID NOT WALK!!! Felt real good until mile 4...then just hoped for the end and kept moving the feet. Sprinted it in last 200 yards (speed walker was in front of me) What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: WAlked; rode bike home (5 miles); jamming up bad late in day What limited your ability to perform faster: tendon in right calf; felt pull in left hammy during swim; hips tweaked a bit during the bike. Perhaps do a light jog or bike closer to race (Sat mini tri,sun biked 22miles, mon swam 1/2mile, tue ran 4 miles...then nothing until race day on sunday. I could stay more mentally focused..I did not push myself as hard as other tris, but I feel like I performed better because I had more left for the run (ave 9:32 pace vs 10:30+ in two other SPRINT tris) Event comments: Really liked the course set up. All athletes seemed focused/hard core...unlike two other sprints where it seemed to be a lot of weekend (or monthly) warriors. Last updated: 2006-08-21 12:00 AM
