Swim
Comments: Really pretty happy with this swim. It was my first OWS since last fall, so I was pretty worried anout panicing. No panic. Sighted pretty well too. Only one time did I look up and want to cuss. Mostly kept to the bouy line. Passed five men (who started four minutes earlier!). Lots of bikes in transition still. What would you do differently?: Swim faster. I was having a leisurly swim, not a race. But, I'm still pretty happy with it. Transition 1
Comments: Time incluedes run up form the lake (0.25mi!!). Did pretty well with getting myself ready and off onto the course. What would you do differently?: Run faster! Bike
Comments: Rocked bike and those m-fing hills!! When Imrode the course I was scared of some of those hills, figured I'd have to walk at least two of them! But I didn't!! What would you do differently?: Had difficulty eating my homemade rice cakes. They are just too big! I think I'll cut them into being te sized pieces and keep them in a baggie in my bento. Ended up dropping half of two different cakes because they broke apart. Transition 2
Comments: Opted not to change socks. This would come back to haunt me, big time! What would you do differently?: Change socks. Always!!! Run
Comments: It was HOT,! No shade for the first five miles. RD and volunteers did a great job with lots of aid stations, but man it was brutal out there!! I did manage to pee on the side of the road around mile two without 1.) being seen by anyone and 2.) peeing in my shoe!!! Those two things probably make the run an overall I ash in my book! What would you do differently?: Slow down in the beginning! Change socks in T2!!!!!!!!!! Post race
Warm down: Not much...stopped running. Tried not to vomit on the kid taking my timing chip. Walked over to get pizza, cookies, and the best damn tasting Mountain Dew I've had in 20 years. Might be the only Mountain Dew I've had in 20 years, but that is beside the point! Had a glorious shower at the campground. Drove 3.5 hours home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat. Event comments: This was a great race that I would highly recommend to anyone!! The volunteers were excellent! There were lots of drink stations on the run! The post-race activities were only okay in my book, but I was nearly last, so I missed out on the good stuuf, I'm sure. Venue is really cool if you are into history. Would have loved to hang around and seen the sight, but I had to get home. Last updated: 2016-05-27 12:00 AM

Got to venue a little late because I got lost--AGAIN!! I swear this race started in a black hole, or the Bermuda Triangle.
Breakfast was 1.5 bagels with peanut butter and a cup of coffee.
Set up transition. Sure do wish they had bike racks for tall bikes!!
Bathroom about 30 min out. Pre-race meeting, then off!
Walked to the swim start (0.25mi!!!), then swam the sprint course. Out of the water for the pre-race meeting.
